Medical Women Association Visits FNPH Benin Management

The Edo State Branch of the Medical Women Association led by its state chairman Dr. Adesuwa Urhoghide who was represented by Dr. Ehi Isa and other past presidents which includes the former Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City, Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Olabisi Ihenyen, Dr Edith Kayode Iyasere, Dr (Mrs.) Akpan and Dr. Mary Ehimigba was on a courtesy visit to Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City to solicit for support and present Dr. (Mrs.) Edith Kayode Iyasere as their chairmanship candidate in the upcoming national election.

In an opening speech, Dr. Ehi Isa said the Medical Women Association started here in Edo state; hence it was time for the state to produce a national president in the person of Dr. Kayode Iyasere. She added that Dr. Iyasere is someone they know that will be able to lead the association to higher levels if elected. She however solicited for management financial support to enable them send enough members as delegates to vote during the election as their numbers counts in winning the election. Dr. Isa however used the occasion to appeal to her fellow Medical Women present during the visit to help them canvass for votes amongst their colleague.

 The Medical Director, Dr. Imafidon Agbonile in a welcoming address said that, it will be a plus to the association to see a member of their branch becomes the national president. While pledging his support to the association, he added that since the association started here in Edo state before it was nationalized, he said he will do all he can to ensure that enough members from the hospital attend by providing transportation to convey them to the venue.

The national presidential aspirant, Dr. Kayode Iyasere in her speech thanked the management team for granting them audience adding that she joined the association since 1995 and with her active involvement as a member some of her colleague motivated her to contest for an elective position based on her past records. She said if given the opportunity to serve, her main focus will be on women, children and the elderly women who are senior citizens in the country by way of providing free medical checkups for them on a regular basis and getting some medical equipment for women to check their bodies at subsidized rate annually.

The Head of Clinical Services Department, Dr. J.O. Omoaregba also assured the association that management will do all it can to support them in actualizing their set goals.
