The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has appointed Dr. Imafidon Osama Agbonile (MBBS, MPH, MHPM, FWACP, FNIM, FIMC FNIMN, ODBA) as the new Medical Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin-City, Nigeria. His appointment takes effect from October 1, 2020.
It is worthy of note that Dr. I.O. Agbonile has since March 20th 2020 occupied the apex position of the institution in an acting capacity after the expiration of the tenure of the former Medical Director on March 19th 2020.
Dr. I.O. Agbonile received his appointment letter at a brief ceremony on Thursday 8th October 2020 at the Federal Ministry of Health in Abuja, from the Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. (Senator) Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora. The meeting also had in attendance the Chairman, Management Board, Pharm. Haliru Lawal; some members of Board of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City, Mr. Fubara Chukwu and Mrs. Helen Oludare; Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Atuwo; Director of Specialty Hospitals, Dr. Noah Andrew; and the Assistant Director, Finance and Accounts of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City, Mr. Lucky E. Evbuomwan among others.
While conveying the letter of appointment to the appointee, the Honourable Minister charged him to work hard to ensure that the hospital continues to provide qualitative healthcare and endeavour to improve on the present achievements and leave his mark of progress on the institution. He further urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him by the appointment and work with all stakeholders for industrial peace and harmony in support of Mr. President’s change mantra for the next level.
Dr. Agbonile expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and described his appointment as a call to duty. He solicited the cooperation of all members of staff in advancing the progress of the hospital. According to him, “I appeal to all staff to join hands with me to work for the progress of our hospital”.
